Carl felt guilty, not for indulging in sin, but for letting his mind wander even as Gabriel ignored the heavens above and the world beneath the creaking bed and floorboards of this cheap inn.

Where will this take us?

His eyes glazed as he thought of tomorrow.

But the mouth warm upon his neck and the frantic way with which Gabriel sought to touch Carl’s innermost being with every thrust, all of these pleaded with him.

Stay with me, Carl.

And finally heeding the call that had been there from the beginning, Carl closed his eyes and returned to paradise.
